Gertrude D. Tillery, 78, of East Alton, IL, died at 11:35 p.m. Sun. Sept. 21, 2014 at Eunice C. Smith Nursing Home in Alton, IL.
She was born Nov. 6, 1935 in Grosswelzheim, Germany to the late Valentin & Maria (Neumann) Funk.
On Feb. 14, 1961, she and Ronald L. Tillery were married in Hanau, Germany. He preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 2004.
Gertrude was a seamstress while in Germany and retired as a CNA from Wood River Township Hospital in 1993. She loved traveling, crocheting and cooking.
Survivors include: 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Joe & Linda Tillery of East Alton and Rick & Carol Tillery of Bethalto, IL, 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Daniela “Donna” & William “Bill” Webber of Wood River and Michelle & Don Randolph of Jerseyville, IL, 8 grandchildren, Jamie & Jason Crutchley, Amie & Scott Tillery, Jennifer Lipe, David Tillery and Donnie & Brandon Randolph, 4 great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Kara, Nathan & Conrad Crutchley and a sister, Margot Ott of Germany.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Maria Piecha and Helene Erb.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thurs. Sept. 25, 2014 at Paynic Home for Funeral where services will be at 10:00 a.m. Fri. Sept. 26, 2014. Burial will follow at Woodland Hills Cemetery.
