Betty Jean Sinks, 80, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at her home with her family by her side, under the care of BJC Hospice.
She was born on February 26, 1934 Alton, IL, the daughter of Hubert and Lena (Hoffman) Allensworth.
She married Leroy Sinks on July 12, 1952 in Pocahontas, AR. He survives.
Betty Jean was a nurse’s aide and unit clerk at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton for 20 years. She was a member of the Hillcrest Nazarene Church growing up. She enjoyed reading, watching TV, shopping and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Melody Sinks of Cottage Hills; two grandchildren, Josh Sinks and April Rose; two great grandchildren, Avery and Carsyn; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Hubert “Bub” and Sharron Allensworth of Wood River and Arthur Wayne Allensworth and his wife of St. Louis, MO and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James Allensworth.
Visitation will from 4 to 7 pm Friday, August 15, 2014 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
