Linda L. Gerbig, 73, passed away at 3:03 am, Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Cotton Plant, AR on July 31, 1940, the daughter of the late Asa and Bertha Mae (Morgan) Avants.
She married Robert T. Gerbig on October 4, 1958 in Bethalto. He preceded her in death on January 6, 2008.
Linda retired from the Alton School District after 27 years in the food service department. Her greatest love was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Linda loved to cook and enjoyed the holidays.
She is survived by two daughters, Diane (Tim) Berigan of Alton and Dana (Mike) Emmons of Brighton; one special niece, Debbie Jones of Bethalto; five grandchildren, Alexis and Hayley Berigan of Alton, and Justin, Brenden, and Gabe Emmons of Brighton; along with two great grandchildren, Layla and Levi.
In addition to her parents, and husband, Robert, she was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be from 4 pm to 7 pm on Friday, June 27, 2014 at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
Funeral service will be at 10 am on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
