Janice Horton

Janice L. Horton, 63, passed away at 6:25 am, Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at her sister’s residence in Godfrey.  

She was born in Granite City, IL on June 30, 1950, the daughter of the late Edgar James and Trudy (Wirth) Horton.Janice was a hair stylist for Excursions Salon in Edwardsville. She worked at many salons in the area as a hairstylist. She enjoyed making jewelry, scarves, and other craft items which she loved to give to friends. Janice was the comic relief of the family and will be fondly remembered for her quick wit. She also loved animals and was always concerned about their welfare.She is survived by two sisters, Carol (Janet Redman) Horton of Godfrey and Beverly Henkhaus; as well as her favorite brother-in-law, Dan Henkhaus. She is also survived by nieces, Amy (Dan) Cope, Emily Mayberry (Matt Petrunich); nephews, Jeremy Henkhaus, Jason (Claire) Henkhaus; great nephew, Jackson; and great niece, Scarlett.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Eddie Horton; a nephew, John Ryan; and a great nephew, James William.The family would like to thank BJC Hospice for all their care to Janice.Per Janice’s wishes, there will be no services.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Metro East Humane Society or an animal shelter of your choice.Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey is in charge of arrangements.Online condolences and guest book may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
