Rosemary 'Rosie' Flowers, 74, passed away 1:32 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Jersey Community Hospital.
Born in Wood River on February 1, 1940, she was the daughter of Johnny and Dorothy (Johnson) Shoemaker.She had worked as a secretary and key punch operator for Owens-IL Glass for over 30 years before retiring.On August 27, 1960 in Wood River Charles Edward Flowers, Sr. He survives.Surviving also are a son, Charles E. Flowers, Jr. of Shipman; three daughters, Dawn Flowers of Alton, Debbie Wallace (Jeff Masterson) of Shipman, Diana Flowers (Michael Gillreath) of East Alton; nine grandchildren, Shauna Wallace, Wendi Wallace, Thomas Flowers, Kristen Ruby, Jodrdan Flowers (Kiara Taylor), Jasmine Sykes, Tommy Sykes III, Krista Ammons, Ryan Clothier; five great grandchildren, Lillian 'Rose' and Jaden 'Boobie' Flowers, Kaylee and Jenna Carpunky and Destiny McCain; brother, Ronald (Phyllis) Shoemaker of Alton; sister, Arlene Yoakum of Wood River; and a special family friend, Scott Masterson.Preceding in death were her parents; a brother, Glenn Shoemaker; and a sister, Cheryl 'Sissy' Shoemaker.A Celebration of Life Service will be scheduled at a later date.Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.Marks Mortuary in Wood River is in charge of arrangements.
