Morris V. Wahl Jr., 67, passed away at 10:00 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2014 at his home with family and friends by his side following a hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born August 19, 1946 to the late Ann (Stormer) Wahl and Morris Wahl Sr. He attended Alton schools and was a 1965 graduate of Alton High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968 with a tour of duty in Vietnam from April of 1967 to April of 1968. He was a member of the Alton VFW Post 1308. Morris worked as an automotive mechanic for many businesses in the Riverbend area. He had a deep knowledge and love for cars. He was a FORD fanatic who enjoyed swap meets, car shows, and cruising in his Cobra. He married the former Jeanne Graner on August 9, 1969 in Alton. Together they have one son, Jason W. Wahl of Godfrey and one granddaughter, Allison Delaney Wahl, his pride and joy. He is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Connie Logan of Alton, a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Jim Mullineaux, a brother-in-law, Mike Blanton, nieces, nephews, cousins and many special close friends that he considered family. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Eleanor Blanton, his mother and father-in-law, Imogene and Gene Graner and aunts and uncles. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2014 with full military honors by the VFW Post 1308. Reverend Randy Butler will officiate. Memorials may be made to the 5A’s Animal Shelter, the Treehouse Wildlife Center or a charity of choice.
