Sister M. Agnes Schmidt, a Sister of Divine Providence, 87, passed away on Sunday May 26, 2014 at Barnes – Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born on March 3, 1927 in Tipton, MO the daughter of Aloysius Andrew & Anna Jane (Fischer) Schmidt.
Sister Schmidt was a teacher and graduated from St. Louis University College.
She is survived by four brothers, Arthur Schmidt of Kansas City, Norbert Schmidt of Raytown, MO, Father Edwin Schmidt of Jefferson City, MO, and David Schmidt of Des Moines, IW; and a sister, Mary Schmidt of Alton.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers, Ruth, Jimmy, Margaret and Harold Schmidt.
Visitation will be from 4to 8 pm Thursday May 29, 2014 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton where a rosary service will be held at 7 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Friday May 30, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.
Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis.
