Julia I. Kravanya, 97, of Sawyerville, IL, died at Heritage Health of Gillespie, IL on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 1:34 am. She was born February 25, 1917 in Scotland to John D. Burns & Anna (Dowds) Burns. She married Anton J. Kravanya on October 31, 1942 in Gillespie, IL. He preceded her in death on April 24, 2000.  She was a presser for the garment factory in Litchfield, IL. She is survived by her son, Tony (Marilyn) Kravanya of Gillespie, IL, daughter, Fran (Mike) Slapak of McCormick, SC, grandchildren, Julie (Matt) Kanes of Kernersville, NC, Karen (Chaplin) Spencer of Rock Hill, SC, Anthony (Marion) Kravanya of Benld, IL, Nicolas (Stacy) Kravanya of Alton, IL, Lyn (Chris) Boyett of Gillespie, IL, great-grandchilren, Anthony, Erik and Isaac Kravanya of Benld, IL, Michael and Josh Kanes of Kernersville, NC, Will and Hannah Spencer of Rock Hill, SC, Lucy Boyett of Gillespie, IL, and sister in law, Gail Burns of Gillespie, IL. Julia was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, grandson, Michael J. Slapak Jr., brother, George Burns, brother, John Burns and sister, Betty Norbent. Friends may call on Friday, May 23, 2014 at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral mass will be Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St Joseph's Church in Benld, IL with Monsignor Larry Auda officiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Gillespie, IL.
