Imogene Nicholson

Imogene Nicholson, 84, passed away 12:05 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Bethalto Care Center in Bethalto.Born on June 3, 1929 in Equality, IL, she was the youngest child of 14 children born to Edd and Cynthia (Leavell) Tite.She had been a waitress for many years at the 'Sun-Ray' Restaurant.  She was a "Master Baker"; loved playing cards and had a tea pot collection of over 300 pieces.On January 19, 1957 in East Alton, she married Clifford Nicholson.  He died July 21, 1977.Surviving are four sons, Jack Givens of Evansville, IN, Rod (Lori) Smith of Highland, Dennis Nicholson of Cottage Hills, Russell (Carolyn) Nicholson of Alton; five daughters, Judy West and Linda Pierce of Wilmington, NC, Pam Nicholson and Wanda Searcy of Cottage Hills, Sharon Davis of Alton; 20 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; son, Bill Givens; eight brothers; and five sisters.Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River, where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 22.  Mr. Paul Joiner will officiate.Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Disease Foundation.
