Mervin Lohr

Mervin L. “Bud” Lohr, 82, died at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at his home in the presence of his family. Born October 30, 1931 in Godfrey, he was the son of Clarence “Ted” and Ellen La’Setta (Waters) Lohr. Mr. Lohr served in the U.S. Army in Germany and was a member of the VFW Post 1308, he also served as a Major in the Civil Air Patrol CAP (CAP) for almost 30 years. He was a Teamster, and enjoyed volunteering at the Godfrey Khoury League Bingo. In 2003 he retired as President from the C.M. Lohr Quarry in Godfrey. On July 4, 1952 he married the former Alice Leonard in Brighton. She survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Tina Lohr of Brighton, a son, Ted Lohr of Brighton and his fiancée Michele Jarnagin, a granddaughter, Alexandra Lohr, and a brother, Wesley Gene Lohr and his wife Karen, their daughter Renee Brown and her family, and son Terry Lohr and his family. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alicia Lohr and his beloved buddy, Oliver, a wire haired dachshund. Mr. Lohr donated his body to science. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of memorial service at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Reverend Randy Butler will officiate.
