JERSEYVILLE-  Gerald Lee "Jerry" Goshorn, 74, died at 12:05 p.m., Sunday, February 2, 2014 at his residence.He was born in Jerseyville on Oct. 5, 1939, one of two children born to the lateHubert Nicholas & Reahn Elizabeth (McGibany) Goshorn.Jerry graduated in 1957 from Jersey Community High School, and served with the U.S. Army.He dedicated 30 years as an Laclede Steel employee retiring in 1994, and later began working at the Pere Marquette State Park in Grafton.He married the former Sandra Crotchett on Oct. 20, 1961 at the Kane Baptist Church, and together they have shared 52 years together and the joys of their two children & their families.Surviving are his wife, Sandra Goshorn of Jerseyville; a daughter & son in law, Tamara & Steve Schleper of Jerseyville; a son, Ronald Goshorn of Jerseyville; five grandchildren, Allyson Schleper, Kayla Schleper, Matthew Schleper, Hannah Goshorn, Garrett Goshorn; a great grandson, Ryan Schleper; his brothers in law and sisters in law, Robert Scoggins of Jerseyville, Doris Darr of Jerseyville, Gene Crotchett of Dunnellen, Fl., Arnie & Dorothy Crotchett of Savannah, Tn., Gail Crotchett of Jerseyville, and Pat CrotchettGipson, and her husband, Neal of Jerseyville.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jeris Ann Scoggins; his father in law & mother in law, Arnold & Mabel Crotchett; brothers in law, Richard Crotchett, Robert Crotchett, Kenneth Darr; and two sisters in law, Marsha Crotchett and Jane Crotchett.Graveside services will be conducted at 3 p.m., Friday at the Kane Cemetery with the Jerseyville American Legion Post 492 conducting military graveside rites.A Memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m., Friday at the First Presbyterian Church in Jerseyville, with the Rev. Don Stribling officiating.Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church of Jerseyville.Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville is in charge of the arrangements.
