Loyal M. “Bud” Case, 91, died at 3:12 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton. Born April 21, 1922 in Detroit, MI, he was the son of Loyal W. Case Sr. and Helen M. (Auno) Case. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of the VFW Post 1308 in Alton. He retired from the process engineering department at the Olin Corporation in 1982 after 40 years of service. On October 12, 1946 he married the former Clara A. Sampson. She preceded him in death on June 15, 2009. Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Ross and Jane Case of Edwardsville, two grandchildren, Angie and Audrey Case, a sister-in-law, Sally Case of Bethalto, a half-sister, Charlotte Williamson of Alton, and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Warren Case and Loyal W. Case Jr., and a sister, Eugenia C. Case. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2014. Reverend Steve Rice will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey with full military honors by the VFW Post 1308.
