James Sheppard

James “Jim” M. Sheppard, 57, passed away unexpectedly at 1:23 am Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at St. Anthony’s Health Care in Alton. 

 

He was born on June 13, 1956 in Wood River, IL, the son of Neal V. and Gertrude L. (Wiegand) Sheppard. 

He married Kathy J. Sheppard on September 23, 1979 at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto.  She survives.

Jim was a warehouse manager at Edwin Pepper Interior in Clayton, Missouri for twenty eight years.  He was a member of two bands, Easy Rider and Take the Cake.  He enjoyed playing his bass guitar and most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and his father, Neal of Bethalto, he is survived by his children and their spouses, Amy Nolte of Bethalto, Keith and Ashley Sheppard of Prairietown and Michele and Zack Mock of Staunton; five grandchildren, Dakota Nolte, Hunter Nolte, James Matthew Sheppard, David Sheppard and Brayden Sheppard; his siblings, Barbara Henke, Michael and Connie Sheppard, Rhonda Sheppard and partner Larry Ceppenati, all of Bethalto and Robert and Carol Sheppard of Plantation, FL; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur L. and Izola (Lee) Sheppard, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, and a sister, Diana Sheppard. 

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Friday, January 24, 2014 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.

Funeral services will be at 10 am Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.

Memorials may be made to the Family for Funeral Expenses.
