Barbara Little

Barbara Ann (Schelle) Little, 80, departed this world and was reunited once again with her husband at 11:30 pm Thursday, January 9, 2014 at her home with her family by her side. 

She was born on December 31, 1933 in Alton, IL, the daughter of Arthur and Reba (Edwards) Schelle. Barb attended St. Patrick’s Catholic grade school in Alton and graduated from Alton High School.

She married Leon A. Little on October 18, 1958 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Alton. They were blessed with 53 years together before his death on February 5, 2012.

Barbara was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto where she was a member of the funeral choir for several years.  She was a chaperone for numerous field trips while her kids were in grade school.  She loved watching her kids sporting events and other activities and that carried over to her grandchildren once they were old enough to participate.  Grandma and grandpa were a constant fixture at their grandkids activities, whether it was a sporting event, school program or dance recital.

She is survived by one son, Phillip Little of Bethalto; one daughter and son-in-law, Shelley & Terry Eberlin of Alton; five grandchildren, Ryan and Kerri Little, Keenan, Autumn and Tess Eberlin; a sister and her husband, Linda and Gary Herron of Cottage Hills; a sister-in-law, Peg Schelle of Godfrey; brothers-in-law, Dexter Sholar and Jim Westbrook both of Godfrey; her former daughter-in-law, Jill (Pickering) Little of Bethalto as well as her nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Tom Schelle and two sisters, Norma Sholar and Nancy Westbrook.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Monday, January 13, 2014 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. 

A funeral Mass will be at 10 am Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto with Father  officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials may be made to St Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Food For The Poor.
