Robert Frederick Voyles, 90, died at 4:04 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2013 at Calhoun Nursing & Rehab in Hardin. Born July 27, 1923 in Alton, he was the son of the late Robert Louis and Helen M. (Youngberg) Voyles. He retired from the U.S. Army having served in Korea and Vietnam. He then worked as a type writer repairman for various companies retiring in 1974. He was a member of the Alton VFW Post 1308 and the Alton Eagles Foe No. 254. In 1955 he married Gladys Miller in Petersburg, WV. She preceded him in death in 1967. Surviving is a son, Robert D. Voyles of Germantown, MD, three step-daughters, Christine Butcher of Kaysville, UT, Carol Allanson of Indianapolis, IN, and Barbara Paasch of Harrisburg, VA, and numerous grandchildren. Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a step-son, David Allanson. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2014 at Melville Cemetery in Godfrey with full military honors by the VFW Post 1308. Pastor Ralph Blake will officiate.
