Melba Jean Wadlow, 73, died at 2:03 p.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at her residence. Born February 20, 1940 in Alton, she was the daughter of John and Velma (Bauser) Gaither. Mrs. Wadlow was a nurse’s aide for St. Joseph Hospital and later for St. Anthony’s Health Center. On January 29, 1957 she married Louis Wadlow. He preceded her in death on October 21, 2011. Surviving is a daughter, Sheila Shive (Steven) of St. Peters, MO, three sons, David Wadlow (fiancé Janet Laws) of Hillview, IL, Donald Wadlow (Sheri) of Godfrey, and Mark Wadlow (Karen L.) of Godfrey, and 8 grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Gaither, and a sister, Norma Frasiska. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 16, 2013. John Meehan will officiate.
