Robert S. Greenwood, 77, passed away at 5:50 am Monday, December 9, 2013 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.
He was born April 8, 1936 in Alton, the son of Shermon B. and Eathel B. (McKay) Greenwood.
He married Carole J. (Silveus) on December 22, 1956 in East Alton. She survives.
Robert served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was employed as a supervisor at Owens Illinois Glass Company.
Robert enjoyed hunting, working on computers, and motorcycles. He also taught math, Numerical Control, and Computer Aided Drafting at Laclede Steel through Lewis and Clark Community College.
In addition to his wife, Carole; he is survived by three children and their spouses: Robert D. and Diana Greenwood of Menifee, CA, Robin and William Theisen of New Delhi, IL and Ronald and Barbara Greenwood of Alton, IL; six grandchildren, David and Emily Niemeyer, Christina and Vincent Weber, Heather Greenwood, Jason and Melissa Greenwood, Alexandra and Anastasia Theisen; three great-grandchildren, Chapman and Zachery Weber, Ellie Niemeyer, and one expected; one sister, Kay and her spouse Norman Mattel of Mt Laurel, NJ.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother; Donald Greenwood; two sisters; Patricia Greenwood and Joy Maxine Seiss; and a grandson, Brad Greenwood.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm, Thursday, December 12, 2013, at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, IL.
Funeral services will be at Elias Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 13, 2013 with military rites by Alton VFW Post 1308.
Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, IL
