Luther Diserens

Luther Lee Diserens, 86, died at 7:35 p.m. Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Bethalto Care Center. Born September 28, 1926 in Alton, he was the son of Luther C. and Veatress (Jackson) Diserens. He served in the U.S. Navy Air Corps during WWII and was a life member of the VFW Post 1308 in Alton. He was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alton. Mr. Diserens retired as chief operator for Standard Oil Co/Amoco Oil in Wood River. He and his wife also owned and operated Cibo Pizza House on Milton Road in Alton for 10 years. On December 17, 1949 he married the former Dorothy Rodenhouse. She preceded him in death on November 5, 2002. Surviving are two daughters, Patty Lane (Marcus) of Bethalto, Pam Brunnworth of Alton, three sons, Don Diserens (Star) of Godfrey, Reverend Jerry Diserens (Kendra) of Trenton, Michigan, and Bob Diserens (Lisa) of Belleville, 12 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. A visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Luther was looking forward to his new home in heaven and a celebration of his home going will be at 12:00 noon Friday, September 27, 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church in Alton. Reverend Andre’ Dobson will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey with full military honors. Memorials may be made to Cornerstone Ministry at Calvary Baptist Church.
