Kathy Hand (Nelson) Godfirnon, 64, died Monday, September 2, 2013 in a car accident in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
She was born Nov. 10, 1948 in Alton to Ralph Hand and Edith (Schenk) Hand Nelson.
Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Edith and David Nelson of Wood River; a daughter, Michele (Shane) Voyles of Tennessee; a son, Jerry Ford of Alton; 5 grandchildren, Kenzie, Karter, Kyler and Korbin Voyles and Bailey Ford; 3 brothers, Robert Hand of Texas and Jeff and Jim (Tonya) Glisson, all of Florida; and 4 sisters, Sharon (Ted) Sperry and Carolyn (Jerry) Robertson, all of Florida, and Sandy (Dennis) Shaw and Betty (Don) Secor, all of Rosewood Heights; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins that loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Hand; a son, Darren Prehn; and a brother, Ralph Hand II.
Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 13 from 11 a.m. until memorial services begin at 12 p.m. at Enjoy Church in Alton, where she was a member. Pastor David Weimer will officiate.
