Betty was a 1942 graduate of Jersey Township High School and MacMurray College in Jacksonville in 1947. While attending MacMurray College, she was a member of the riding team and participated in several horse shows in the St. Louis area. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jerseyville, serving in various capacities, Sunday School Teacher, served on the Diaconate, was president of ABW, served on many committees and an active member of the Joy Sunday School Class. She was a 50 year member of Jersey County Homemaker Extension and also served as Home Adviser in Montgomery and Jersey Counties. She taught schools in Farmerville, Kane and Jerseyville.
