Evelyn Hill

Evelyn A. Hill, 84, passed away at 10:40 pm Friday, August 23, 2013 at Alton Memorial Hospital, with her family by her side.

She was born in Roodhouse, IL, on March 22, 1929 the daughter of the late  Ernest L. and Minnie (Totten) Miller.

She married Bob Hill on November 30, 1947 at Cherry St. Baptist Church in Alton, he preceded her in death on July 7, 1999.

Evelyn was manager of the Wood River Dairy Queen for 16 years retiring in 1976. She is a member of the Alton First Southern Baptist Church, Walton Chapter Order of the Eastern Star 1018, Daughter of the Nile Chapter 29, and the Amaranth.

She is survived by two daughters and their spouses Evelyn, (Mose) Andoe of Wood River, Dianna, (Larry) Ghere of Brighton, one sister Eleanor Kidwell of Alton, and three grandchildren Timothy (Kara) Andoe of East Alton, Laura Mugge of Wood River, Jessica (Chris) Herring of Brighton and four great grandchildren Nicolas and Maya Mugge, and Dean and Abbegal Herring.

In addition to her parents, and husband she was preceded in death by six brothers; James Miller, Earl Webb, Louis Webb, Leowen Webb, Harry Cleveland, Lee ”Buddy” Miller, and one sister Dorothy Austin.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 pm August 27, 2013 at Elias Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton. Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home at 10 am August 28, 2013 with Pastor Ray Robinson officiating.

Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey, IL.

Memorial may be directed to the American Heart and Stroke Association.
