Robert L. Healy, 88, died at 11:48 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton. He was born February 6, 1925 in Springfield, IL the son of the late Fred and Nellie (Raymond) Daniels. He served in the United States Navy during WWII and was on the USS Hancock when it was commissioned in 1944. He was a member of the NRA and Grace United Methodist Church in Alton. He retired in 1985 as a machinist with Glass Containers Company. In August of 1948 he married Margery Powell and she survives, also surviving are one son; Michael Louis Healy of Conway, Ark., one grandchild; Katrina Healy, four great-grandchildren; Adam Roberts, Sarah Howard, Victoria Roberts and Heather Roberts, four great-great grandchildren, one brother; Carl Daniels of Brighton. He was preceded in death by one son; William “Bill” Healy, one brother; Raymond Daniels, one sister; Vivian Daniels, one sister in law; Regena Daniels. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton with Reverend Charles Schwaab and Reverend Steve Barret to officiate. Military honors will be conducted by Alton Post VFW 1308 at the funeral home. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church in Alton.
