It was the dawn of a beautiful Sunday morning, August 11, 2013, when God called Gracie L. Phillips, age 83, home to join her heavenly family, God decided it was time to relieve her of her suffering.
She was born to late John William and Bettle Butler in Murray, KY.
She married Jimmy E. Phillips on November 10, 1948 in Wood River, IL and they raised their children, Debora and David in Bethalto, IL. He passed away on July 18, 1994.
Gracie was a member of the Bethalto Presbyterian Church for 47 years. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, traveling and fishing.
She is survived by a daughter, Debora Elliott (husband, Bobby); her grandchildren, Matthew, Jacob and Jacqueline Bruntjen and their father, Scott Bruntjen; two sisters, Barbara Jean Ketterer (friend Dale) and Mary Alice Short (husband Bill) and her nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by parents, husband, a son, David Phillips seven brothers and three sisters, Troy, Floyd, John, Roy, Carmon, Harmon, Nora, Mavis, Clarence Butler and Sammy Collie.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Friday, August 16, 2013, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral services will be at 11 am on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to the Bethalto Presbyterian Church.
