John “Rick” Flynn, 71, died at 7:35 p.m. Monday, August 12, 2013 at St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton. Born October 24, 1941 in Alton, he was the son of Elbert “Homer” and Mae Sue (Kelly) Flynn. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alton and the Chevelle Owners Association. He loved drag racing and building car models. Rick was loved by everyone in the neighborhood. He is survived by a brother, Thomas E. Flynn, and 12 nieces and nephews including his nephew Tom Flynn who was his caregiver for 10 years. He was preceded in death by a sister, Anita Sue Beatty and a sister-in-law, Gloria (Rowland) Flynn. Per his wishes there will be no visitation or funeral.
