Lanny H. Darr, 72, died at 7:40 p.m. Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Blu-Fountain Manor in Godfrey. Born January 6, 1941 in Alton, he was the son of Howard and Stella (Rain) Darr. Mr. Darr retired in 1993 as Director of emergency and disaster for Madison County. He was a member of the Resurrection Lutheran Church and the Alton-Wood River Sportsman’s Club. He was elected as the first auditor of Godfrey and served on the original board of trustees from 1973-1977.
On September 28, 1963 he married the former Brenda Hale in Bethalto. She survives. Also surviving are five sons, Lanny Darr II of Alton, Matt Darr (Martha) of Edwardsville, Joe Darr (Rebecca) of Hoffman Estates, IL, Brad Darr (Tammy) of Montpelier, VA, and Bob Darr (Khamphanh “Tic”) of Portland, OR, and eight grandchildren.
A memorial visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until time of services at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.
