Marilyn Bennett

Marilyn Louise (Brown) Bennett left this world at 4:10 am on May 8, 2013 at Jerseyville Nursing & Rehab and went to a new life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born May 16, 1943 at Carlinville to the late William Robert and Florence Eileen (Rands) Brown. Marilyn spent her youth in the Greenfield area and graduated from Greenfield High School in 1961.Marilyn married her highs school sweetheart Emmet L. Bennett on June 3, 1962 in Greenfield. They celebrated their 50^th wedding anniversary in 2012. Emmet and Marilyn settled in Medora where they farmed and raised two children.  She is survived by her Husband, Emmet, two sons: Emmet Jr of Medora and Robert and his wife Kathleen of Catlin, IL. Marilyn also leaves behind 5 grandchildren: Christina, Valerie, Julie, Kady and Ethan Bennett. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Robert Dean Brown.Marilyn was an active member of the Frist Baptist Church of Greenfield and was a supportive volunteer in the Awana’s youth program. Marilyn enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, mowing her lawns, tending her flowers, gardening and canning and decorating her home for holidays (especially Christmas). Marilyn was an avid baker and took great joy in sharing her baked goods with others, especially her Christmas cookies. She will be dearly missed by family and friends. Visitation will be Fri May 10, 2013 from 9-11 am at Targhetta & Wooldridge F H in Medora where services will be at 11 am with Rev John Pattison officiating. Marilyn will be laid to rest in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be made to the Greenfield Baptist Church.Online information and guestbook may be found at targhettaandwooldridge.com
