Robert E. Busse, 82, passed away at 1:15 am on Tuesday May 7, 2013 at St Anthony’s Health Center in Alton.
He was born on November 25, 1930 in Alton, IL, the son of the late George and Vera Busse.
He married Patricia Holloway on April 12, 1953 in Alton, IL; she preceded him in death on May 19, 2006.
Robert owned and operated Busse Amoco Service in Granite City; he was previously employed at Owens IL Glass Company and Alton Parks and Recreation in Alton. He was the Director of Rock Springs Park and the activity director of the Cheyenne Sioux Reservation at Eagle Butte, SD. Robert also served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War. He enjoyed wood working and was an avid Cardinal Fan. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
He is survived by one daughter and her spouse; Melinda and Kevin Janvrin of Decatur, two sons and their spouses; David and Deena Busse of Granite City and Steve and Marge Busse of Alton, eight grandchildren and their spouses; Ben and Kim Janvrin, Kyle and Samantha Janvrin, Ian and Chelsea Janvrin, Holly and Jimmy Mellenthin, Luke Busse, Megan Busse, Brian and Evan Busse, four great grandchildren; Mason Janvrin, Logan Janvrin, Kruz Janvrin and Parker Janvrin, and many extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents and his wife he was also preceded in death by a great granddaughter; Lillie Mellenthin.
Visitation will be from 11am until time of service at 1 pm Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton with Andre Dobson officiating.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey, IL with Military Honors by the Alton VFW Post 1308.
