Gerald R. Copeland, 72, passed away at 2:50 pm on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at his home while under the care of BJC Hospice with his family by his side.
He was born April 25, 1940 in Hartford, IL, the son of Clyde C. and Francis E. (Scoggins) Copeland.
Jerry was a mechanic at D & G Trucking and an over the road truck driver for more than 30 years.
He is survived by his companion, Brenda Cox of Wood River; five children and their spouses, Jerry Wayne Copeland of Elba, AL, Victoria and Dean Gibson of Wood River, Jerri Marie and Kenny Lisk of St. Charles, MO, Sheryl L and Mark Brady of Franklin, KY and JoAnna K. and Scott White of Wright City, MO; thirteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; his siblings and their spouses, Gene and Marcella Copeland of Cottage Hills, Kenny Copeland and his friend Diane of Bethalto, Linda and Ron Bartow of Brighton, Diane and Dave Fraser of Rosewood Heights, Larry and Theresa Copeland, Roger and Cathy Copeland all of Cottage Hills, Donnie and Jan Copeland of Hartford, Carol Copeland and Kerry Glenn all of Cottage Hills and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael Copeland, a daughter, Linda Gay Watson and two sisters, Geneva Bush and Shavonne Tate.
Cremation rites were accorded.
