Viola E. Tepen, 95, passed away at 2:34 pm Monday, April 1, 2013 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.
She was born September 14, 1917 in Brussels, IL, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Rose) Klocke.
Viola married William B. Tepen on May 10, 1941 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in West Alton, MO. He preceded her in death on May 24, 1998.
Viola was a homemaker most of her life. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Alton, the Ursuline Convent Auxiliary, the Altar Society and the Daughters of Isabelle. She enjoyed quilting, baking and cooking and spending time with all her family and friends.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Patricia Tepen of Florissant, MO; four daughters and their spouses, Barbara Johnson of Alton, Patricia and Tom Bandy of East Alton, Jean and Dennis Nicholson of Metropolis, IL and Beverly and Kelley Wilfong of Bethalto; nine grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, William H. Hanneken; four sisters, Mary H Hanneken, Alice Klockenkemper, Gertrude Bick and Dorothy Walmsley and a son-in-law, Don Johnson.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton.
A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Delix Michel S.S.L officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey
