Mary Lou Griffin, 85, died at 9:37 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at St. Anthony’s Health Center. She was born January 28, 1928 in Eldorado, IL the daughter of Cecil and Eileen (Barnett) Dodd.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alton for 51 years. At Calvary she was active with the homebound ministry, the benevolent committee and the media center. She enjoyed traveling with her family. In 1990 she retired from Lewis and Clark College as a Librarian secretary.
On June 12, 1959 in Eldorado she married Joe Griffin and he survives. Also surviving are one son Steve Griffin and his wife Rhonda of East Alton and one daughter; Marilyn Griffin of Centralia, IL, three grandchildren; Ryan Harris (Lorna) of Tampa, FL, Benjamin Griffin of Alton and Valerie Griffin of East Alton, two sisters in law; Dorothy Serepin (Frank) of Sulligent, Alabama and Dolores Griffin of Kankakee, IL, four cousins; Jane smith of Louisville, KY, Rita Dodson of Equality, IL, Dale Gibson of Eldorado, IL and Carl Barnett of Hopkinsville, KY.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at GENT Funeral Home in Alton, where funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Andre Dobson to officiate.
Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Memorial may be made to Calvary Baptist Church sign Fund or the church media center. Additional information and online guest book may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
