Roger “Dean” Williamson, 75, died at 11:02 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Eunice C. Smith Home in Alton surrounded by family. He was born March 22, 1938 in Alton the son of the late Walter Williamson and Mabel (Cheatham) Williamson Conlee and his step father Hubert Conlee. He retired in 1994 from Olin Corporation after 35 years of service.

He served with the U. S. Navy on the USS Saratoga. He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Alton, VFW Post 1308, Alton Eagles and The Alton Wood River Sportsman’s Club. He enjoyed fishing and spending time at his place at the Lake of the Ozarks.

On October 1, 1966 in Alton he married Kay Hagen and she survives. One of the greatest joys of Dean and Kay was raising their nephew, Brad Lister (Catherine) after the death of his parents. Surviving are one niece and four othernephews; Greg Lister (Catherine), Jeff Lister (Debbie), Cathy Gillespie (John), Bob Williamson (Colleen) and Mike Williamson, one sister; Betty Perotka(Ted) of Alton, one sister in law; Margaret Williamson of Alton, 13 great nieces and nephews and five great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother; Robert Williamson.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 27, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Gent Funeral Home where funeral services will be 10:30 Thursday with Reverend Jamie Hahs officiating. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey with full military honors from VFW post 1308 of Alton. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
