He served in the Chemical Corps of the Army at the Dugway Proving Grounds in Dugway, Utah from 1959 to 1961.Gerald was a 4th degree Knights of Columbus member, a Shipman Volunteer Firefighter for 33 years and a Board Member and Treasurer of the St. Denis Catholic Church Cemetery Association.
