Shirley “Roselle” Brown, 83, passed away at 5:34 pm, August 5, 2012 at Alton Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.
She was born in Alton, IL on February 28, 1929 the daughter of the late William Clyde Walton and Virgil Wright Hubbard.
On January 24, 1948 she married William “Bill” J. Brown Jr. in Alton, IL. He survives.
Roselle was an Auditor for the 1st National Bank of Alton for 24 years until she retired in 1985. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Godfrey. She enjoyed making crafts and quilts, baking great pies and spending time with her family and friends, her grandchildren were the light of her life.
She is survived by her husband Bill; one daughter, Bonnie (Kenneth) Fessler of Jerseyville, IL; two sons, Bill (Lynn) Brown of Bethalto and Richard (Vickie) Brown of Alton; one brother, Douglas Walton of Alton; six grandchildren, Kenny (Alicia) Fessler, Matt (Sara) Fessler, John Fessler, Jaye Ann (David) Beatty, Tori, Beth, and Kenton Kramer, and Samuel (Alyssa) Brown; and eight great grandchildren, Brandon, Ethan, Aaron, Alex, David, Emily, Kallie, Klair and Ethan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Barbara and Caleb Fessler.
Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm, Tuesday August 7, 2012 at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL.
Funeral service will be at 10 am, Wednesday August 8, 2012 at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey with Pastor Tom Olney officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville, IL.
Memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church or Mississippi Valley School.
