Anna Margaret Carpunky, 84, died at 5:25 a.m., Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home.She was born in Meppen on March 26, 1928, and was the daughter of the late Albin "A.J." and Frances F. (Smith) Tepen.As if being a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother weren't enough, Ann earned her certificate as a nurses aid through Lewis & Clark Community College so she could continue with her love of caring for others. She worked at both the Jersey County Health Dept., as well as Greenwood Manor Nursing Home before she and her husband, Stewart opened and operated Ann's Senior Home located on Giddings Avenue in Jerseyville for many years prior to her retirement and selling of the business.  After her retirement, she continued to serve others, and assisted as a housekeeper for both Father Kekeisen and Father Gibbons at St. Francis Catholic Church.She married Stewart Bennett Carpunky on May 29, 1948 at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville, and together they shared 50 years together before his death on July 15, 1998.Surviving are a daughter, Mary Landon of Jerseyville;  four sons & daughters in law, Mike & Diana Carpunky and Mark & Pati Carpunky all of Jerseyville, Tom & Tracey Carpunky of Godfrey, and James "Jim" Carpunky of Jerseyville; 15 Grandchildren & their spouses, Jim & Becky Schroeder of Alton, Steve & Carol Schroeder of Jerseyville, Karen & Joe Clemmer of Hobbs, NM., Anige & Matt Derrick of Las Cruces, NM., Adam Schroeder of Jerseyville, Todd Carpunky of London, England, Courtney Carpunky & Caitlin Carpunky both of Jerseyville, Danielle & Jason Taylor, Brian Carpunky, Justin Carpunky, Lauren Carpunky all of Jerseyville, Amy & Dan Anderson of St. Peters, Mo., Allison Carpunky, Trevor Carpunky and Annie Carpunky all of Godfrey; 22 Great Grandchildren; a brother & sister in law, Victor & Genevieve Tepen of Jerseyville; five sisters & brothers in law, Kate Ward, Dorothy Tittle, Esther & Dale Foiles and Gerturde Nevlin all of Jerseyville, and Adele & William Randolph of Carrollton; and a sister in law & brother in law, Mary Lou & Lewis Hunter of Jerseyville.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two infant daughters, Margaret & Louise; an infant son, Patrick; a brother & sister in law, Alfred "Al" and Helen Tepen; and four brothers in law, Donald Ward, William Haun, Robert Tittle, and Robert Nevlin.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville, with Father Patrick Gibbons officiating.Burial will be in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be given to the St. Francis/Holy Ghost Catholic Schools of Jerseyville or to Masses.Anna will be sadly missed by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, family and friends.  She was truly a gentle and kind woman.  May she be at peace in God's loving arms
