Russell E. Owens 79, of Bethalto passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016 at his home with his wife by his side. He was born December 9, 1936 in Wood River to Oval and Theresa Owens. Russell was a retired welder, who worked for the Operating Engineers in Pasadena, CA. He married Mary Mullen in 1959; she preceded him in death in 2002. He married Carolyn (Austin) Jurjens July 23, 2014 in Holy Angels Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Owens of Bethalto and a sister, Alice.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife; brother, Wilbur and sister, Marcella.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Paynic Home for Funerals. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Woodland Hill Cemetery in East Alton, IL. Memorial s can be made to the 5A’s. Online guestbook available at www.paynicfh.com
