James R. Coatney, 52, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016 at his home.
He was born March 22, 1963 in Alton, and worked construction most of his life. He loved the outdoors, particularly fishing and camping. He enjoyed gardening and watching things grow. He also loved to barbecue and was a “dancing fool”.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Helen (Forgy) Sawyer and Floyd Sawyer of East Alton; three sisters, Kathy Sawyer, Misty Sawyer-O’Dell (Frank O’Dell), and Christy Sawyer-Clark (Michael Clark), all of East Alton; three brothers, Rodney Sawyer of East Alton, Brian Sawyer of Cottage Hills, and Gary Sawyer of Wood River; a special aunt, Margaret Thompson of East Alton; 14 nieces and nephews; a great niece and three great nephews. He loved them all very much, and they will miss him dearly.
Memorial visitation will be Friday, Feb. 12 at Paynic Home for Funerals from 10 a.m. until services begin at 11 a.m.
