Gladys McGuiggan-Hudgins

Gladys Ellen (Smith) McGuiggan-Hudgins, 83, passed away 8:20 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2015 at her residence.

Born in Alton on June 29, 1932, she was the daughter of Roscoe "Ross" and Etta Mae (Lee) Smith.

She had worked as a packer for Owens-IL Glass four years and made ceramics in her home for over 30 years. She was a loving and supportive mother, who was an avid reader.

On February 4, 1950, she married Edward McGuiggan.  He died April 28, 1983.  She then married Lawrence Hudgins on October 11, 1991 and he died, October 22, 2007.

Surviving are a daughter, Connie (Vern) Phillips; two sons, Michael (Bonnie) McGuiggan, Jeffrey (Teri) McGuiggan all of Wood River; grandchildren, Shane Phillips, Mike (Rache) and  Chad (Shana) Olinghouse, Craig (Heather) Shattuck, Gage (Candice) McGuiggan, Michael (Christina) McGuiggan, Michelle (Kraig) Rodgers, Connie (Mark) Slone; two step-grandchidlren, Vern (Georgia) Phillips, Eric Phillips; great grandchildren, Halie, Rhiannon, Emilee, Caitlyn, and Abigail Olinghouse, Alexandria, Sabrina, and Gabriel McGuiggan, Alexis, Zoey and Lucas Slone; step great grandchild, Nina Phillips; grt-great grandson, Colton Aaron Harly; and a sister, Violet Cown of Crocker, MO.

Preceding in death were her parents; husbands; two sons, Edward J. and Mark Shane McGuiggan; great grandson, Aaron Olinghouse; four brothers, Roscoe, Hershal, Londas and Douglas Smith; and three sisters, Ruby Curtis-Clark, Viola Pasley and Gloria McAfee.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2015 in Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.

Marks Mortuary in Wood River is in charge of arrangements.
