Virginia L. “Gini” Osborne, 82, died at 5:20 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton. Born September 14, 1932 in Alton, she was the daughter of Royce and Maudlee (Jolley) Speight. She married Tom Osborne on July 1, 1951 in Alton. He survives. Mrs. Osborne worked as an assistant manager of human resources for Venture in Alton for 23 years. She was a member of Heartland Baptist Church and was past president of the Sportsman’s Club Ladies Auxiliary. She was a mentor for the Alton School system and was an avid ballroom dancer. Along with her husband she is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Chuck and Debbie Osborne of Aiken, SC, Mark and Lisa Osborne of Godfrey, and Mike and Barbara Osborne of Silver City, NM, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, one brother, Tom Speight of Santa Rosa, NM, and a sister, Ruth Smith of St. Charles, MO. She was preceded in death by a great grandson, Caleb Lee. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2015 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2015. Dr. Jim Grant will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. The family request in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Heartland Baptist Church, Hope Center in Bethalto, or the American Cancer Society.
