Jessie “Winnie” Timmermeier, 89, died at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2015 in Alton. She was born February 27, 1926 in Temple, TX the daughter of the late Jessi H. and Pearlena (Haliburton) Safley. She worked at the Yellow Balloon Arts and Crafts Center in Chautauqua, IL and at Steve Antiques in Alton. She enjoyed spending summers in Chautauqua with her husband taking care of her flowers and her hummingbirds. She was known to many for her witty and colorful personality. On March 28, 1952 in Corpus Christi, TX she married Newell “Tim” Timmermeier and he preceded her in death on April 26, 2006. Surviving are two sons, Michael Timmermeier (Janet) of Alton and Walter Timmermeier (Linda) of Alton, five grandchildren who knew her as “Mama Pooh” , Brittany Howell (Adam), Kelly Weirich (Daniel), Shyloh Timmermeier (Asailio), Justin Timmermeier and Elijah Timmermeier, and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Amanda Lynn Timmermeier and one sister, Patsy Dobson. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton with Reverend Randy Butler to officiate.
