Henry Monroe McCoy Jr., 90, died at 1:53 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born August 22, 1924 in Alton, he was the son of Henry McCoy Sr. and Mabel (Warner) McCoy.  He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of the VFW Post 1308 in Alton.  Mr. McCoy was a member and Past Master of the Jerseyville Masonic Lodge #394, the Eastern Star, and the American Legion 2910.  He was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston, and attended First Church of Christ, Scientist, Alton-Godfrey.  In 1986 he retired from Union Electric as a Journeyman Electrician after 36 years of service.  On November 14, 1951 he married the former Patricia J. Kadell.  She survives.  Also surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Michael McCarty and Kathie and Patrick Conway, and three grandchildren, Jennifer Manker, Sargent Courtney Manker, and Ryan Conway.  Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Virgil McCoy and a sister, Mildred Carhart.  Masonic Services by the Jerseyville Masonic Lodge 394 will be at 10:00 a.m. followed by visitation until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.  Phil Mazzone will officiate. Burial will be at Grimes-Neeley Cemetery in Jerseyville with full military honors by the VFW Post 1308.  Memorials may be made to the VFW Post 1308.  Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
