Darald L. Hersman, 74, passed away 3:17 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at his residence.
Born in Alton on July 6, 1940, he was the son of Clyde Hersman and Hazel F. (West) Powell. He was raised in childhood by a step-father, Henry Jackson.
He worked as a truck driver and moving man before retiring.
On October 24, 1958 in Alton, he married the former Karen Forbes. She survives.
Surviving also are a son, Henry Hersman of Danville; daughter, Sheryl Hersman-Jones of Alton; seven grandchildren, Brian (Lisa) Hersman, Karen Hersman, Kristen Combs, C.J. (Alycia) Berry, Kara Berry, Sally Hersman, Jimmy Hersman; 11 great grandchildren, Alex, Abbie, Brianna, Destiny, Summer, Hunter, Trinity, Jaydin, Kaidyn, Kamiyaj, and Pierre; and a brother, Chester "Chet" Powell, Jr.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Rev. Chris Handler will officiate.
Burial will follow in Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
