Carl N. Haworth, 88, passed away at 9:00 am Monday, March 30, 2015 at Bethalto Care Center with his family by his side.
He was born on December 7, 1926 in Indianola, IL, the son of Raymond and Lula (Lewis) Haworth.
Carl married Rosalie Dorsey in 1949. She passed away in 1985. He married Bernice Phillips Schulte in 1995. She survives.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, serving in the 78th signal company in France and Germany during World War II. He retired from Clark Oil after 36 years. He was a member of the 12th Street Presbyterian Church for 61 years, a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Wood River Moose.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and his spouse, Michael and Marcelyn; two step daughters, Marcia Gihring and Linda Lack and her husband, Bob; a granddaughter, Julie Swarringin and husband, Mark; a great granddaughter, Carley Ann Swarringin; three step grandchildren, Melanie and Rob Dubach, Jeff and Alicia Gihring, Kevin Angel and fiancé’ Toby Blackford; four sisters-in-law, Betty Boehm, Lucille Johnson, Margie Colburn and husband, Don and Irene Phillips; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Rich and Ann Phillips Earl and Sue Phillips; a son-in-law, Mark Moore and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, one daughter, Patricia Moore, two brothers and their wives, Ray and Ruth Haworth, Marvin and Juanita Haworth and a brother-in-law, Bill Boehm.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Moro Presbyterian Church with Rev. Marc Wendleton officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto with military rites given by Alton VFW Post 1308.
