Beverly Delaney

Beverly L. Delaney, 88, died at 4:05 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Mari De Villa in Town & Country, MO. Born January 6, 1927 in Hannibal, MO, she was the daughter of Murray Paul and Vashta Juanita (Harrell) Leonard. Mrs. Delaney was a legal secretary and worked for the City of Wood River, Robert F. Quinn, Attorney, City of Alton, and Olin Matheson, retiring in 1994. She was a member of the Madison County Legal Secretary Association, the GFWC Woman’s Club of Wood River and a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Alton. On May 15, 1948 she married Emmett Edward Delaney in Alton. He preceded her in death. Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy “Tim” and Mary J. “Judy” Delaney of Wildwood, MO, two grandchildren, Steven Edward Delaney of Wildwood, MO, and Jennifer Jean “JJ” Jokerst (James) of Wentzville, MO, a sister, Nancy Groff (Richard) of Alton and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Leonard, Edward Leonard, and Murray Paul Leonard Jr., and a sister, Helen Seymour. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2015. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to the American Parkinson’s Disease Association. Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
