William Minks

William “Bill” Minks, 92 passed away at 7:03 am Tuesday March 3, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center on St. Louis, MO.

He was born on January 27, 1923 in Eminence, MO the son of the late Ottis Elmer & Mabel (Overcast) Minks.

Bill married Dorothy Markel on August 28, 1971 at Edwards Street Assembly of God Church in Alton.  She survives.

He was a member of the Abundant Life Community Church in Alton and served in the United States Coast Guard.  He then worked for Granite City Steel Company as a foreman; he was an avid fisherman and hunter.  He also was a flight recipient of the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in 2013.

He is survived by a daughter; Jennifer and her spouse Kraig Allen of Jerseyville, three grandchildren; Austin, Alyssa and Josselyn, a sister; Dorothy “Corky” Thompson of Hazelwood, MO, two sister’s-in-law; Clara and her spouse Jerry Duncan of Alton and Ginny and her spouse Dink Abbott of Alton and a brother-in-law; Art Markel of Alton, many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister and brother in-law, Mildred and Lefty Harris.

Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm, Sunday, March 8, 2015 at the Abundant Life Community Center in Alton, where funeral services will be at 10 am, Monday, March 9, 2015 with the Rev. Roy Rhodes and Rev. Sam Henning officiating.

Burial will follow at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.

Memorials may be directed to the Abundant Life Community Church for Missions.
