Mrs. Sophenya Marika (Jones) Weaver, 42 received eternal rest March 2, 2015 at 6:45 p.m. at Alton Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.
Sophenya was born July 26, 1972 in Alton, IL, to Margaret (Lacey) and the late Frank Jones, Sr. both of Alton IL.
She received her education from the Alton Public School District, and was employed as a Certified Nurse’s Aide for several years in the Alton area. Sister Weaver gave her life to Christ at an early age at Monroe Memorial Church of Christ under the leadership of Bishop Samuel E. White. In 2010, she became a member at Bread of Life Fellowship; she adored both Pastor Gregory and first lady Tonya Denton.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by: a daughter, Jah’Nisha Martel Stennis; paternal grandparents that helped raised her, Charles and Pearline (Brown) Jones; maternal grandmother, Maryann (Madison) Lacey, and a brother, Antonio Jones, Sr.
Sophenya leaves to forever cherish her memory: to her husband, Eric Weaver Sr. of Alton, Illinois; two sons, Kenyon (Andreas) Jones of Edwardsville, IL, and Marlon Jones of Alton, Illinois; a daughter, Ja’Misha Stennis of Springfield, Illinois; her Nana, Ja’Kesa Jones of Godfrey, Illinois; three stepchildren, Eric Weaver, Jr. of Godfrey, Illinois, Shamarla Stallings of Alton, Illinois, and Jerrod Shepherd of St. Louis, Mo; three grandchildren, Kenyon Jr., Malachi, and Noelle Jones all of Edwardsville, Illinois; Three additional grandchildren, Raye Jr, Khylan, and Kheyon Slack all of Alton, Illinois; two brothers, Frank (Serena) Jones, Jr. of Godfrey, Illinois, and Jockeith Jones, Sr. of Alton, Illinois; one sister, Tanisha Jones of Godfrey, Illinois; eight nephews, Antony Cross, Jr, Jalen Wallace, Antonio Jones, Martel Jones, Jamal Jones, Jacoby Jones, Jockeith Jones, Jr, and Frank Jones; a niece, Jasmine Jones; two nephews and 1 niece that resides
in Oklahoma; a Godmother, Lavern White; two God daughters; April Jordan and Kisha Lytle; a special cousin Cathy Smith, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family, and friends.
Visitation will convene Saturday, March 7, 2015 from 9 until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Bread of Life Fellowship Church. Pastor Gregory Denton will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded. Guest signatures and condolences are available at www.harrisonfuenralchapel.com
