Sherry K Huber, 67, died peacefully Sunday March 1, 2015 at Provision Living in Godfrey under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born January 1, 1948 in Alton, Il the daughter of Jean and Lorene Peek. On July 25, 1969 she married Walter William Huber at St. Mary’s Church in Alton. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter Lori Tassinari of Alton and grandchildren Marc Tassinari and Mia Tassinari of Alton. Also surviving are her brother Terry and his wife Janet of Godfrey, as well as nephews Brian Peek of Denver, CO and Tyler Peek of Alton. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Bonnie Stemm of Godfrey, brother-in-law Dick and his wife Sandy Huber, brother-in-law Dave and his wife Vera Huber, and brother-in-law Charley Ducey, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Sherry was a 1966 graduate of Marquette High School and attended the University of Missouri in Columbia. She was employed by Dr. Thomas Morrissey for 15 years until his retirement and then worked as a financial advisor for Compas Network until her retirement.

Sherry’s greatest joys in life were her grandchildren on whom she doted. She treasured her lifelong friends and never met a stranger. Sherry was an avid reader and enjoyed movies, especially ones with happy endings. She was a caregiver to anyone in need and loved animals. Sherry’s bubbly personality and ready smile will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill, and a son, Marc.

As per Sherry’s wishes, a prayer service will be held at 10 am on Thursday March 5, 2015 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, with Deacon Bill Kessler officiating.

Memorials may be made in Sherry’s name to the Five A’s Humane Society in Godfrey, St. Ambrose Catholic School, and by showing kindness to one another. The family wishes to thank everyone at Provision Living and St. Anthony’s Hospice for their devoted care during Sherry’s short stay there, as well as Deacon Bill Kessler of St. Ambrose Parish for his support.
