Ida Howard

Ida May Howard, 88, passed away 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Meridian Village Care Center.

Born August 20, 1926 in Sesser, she was the daughter of Theodore and Alice (Mitchell) Mallory.

She was a second grade teacher in the Roxana School District for many years; a member of the FC P.E.O., United Presbyterian Church in Wood River, having served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher; and a volunteer for the American Red Cross.

On June 10, 1947, she married Harley "Red" Howard.  He preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Laura Howard of Glen Carbon, Jerry and Kimberly Howard of Galena; two grandchildren, Derek (Natasha) Howard, Stephan (Rachel) Howard; two step-grandchildren, Whitney and Kellon; a great granddaughter, Samantha Howard; brother and sister-in-law, Troy and Magdalene Mallory of Quincy.

Her parents; husband; and two brothers, Glenn and Ralph Mallory preceded in death.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Rose Lawn Memory Gardens Chapel in Bethalto.  Pastor Pam Laing will officiate.

Memorials may be made to the Independent Living Activity Fund at Meridian Village.

Marks Mortuary in Wood River is in charge of arrangements.
