Ned Wuellner

Ned H. Wuellner, age 87, of Brighton, passed away Monday, February 23, 2015, at his home with his family by his side.He was born June 30, 1927, in Alton, the son of Henry A. and Ann (Snyder) Wuellner. Mr. Wuellner graduated from Northwestern University with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering. He married Rosemary Rowe on July 15, 1953 in Muskegon, MI, and she survives. He was a sheet metal contractor and owned Canham Sheet Metal for 35 years, before retiring in 1991. Ned was a member of the Knights of Columbus where he held a 4th Degree. He was also a member of Triangle Fraternity and Sigma Xi. Mr. Wuellner was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.In addition to his wife, he is survived by eight children and their spouses, Ann and John Venardos of CA, Franz and Debbie Wuellner of Alton, Rolf and Michele Wuellner of OR, Leah and Matt Ursch of Alton, Sara and Dennis Moore of Jerseyville, Ruth and Marty Frey of Germany, Hope and Dan Brooks of Texas, and Jed and Rachelle Wuellner of Godfrey; a brother, Mark A. and Marjorie Wuellner of Alton; two sisters-in-law, Elise Wuellner of IA, and Dorothy Wuellner of Alton; sixteen grandchildren, Peter and Alex Venardos; Blaze and Mallory Wuellner; Justin and Josh Traff; Austen Wuellner; Taylor, Hannah, and Morgan Moore; Abraham and Chloe Frey; Derek and Audrey Brooks; and Tristan and Nathaniel Wuellner; and two great-grandchildren, with one on the way.He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Guy S., Bert J., Roy J. and Betty, and James A. and Dorothy Wuellner.Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2015 from 9:00 am until the time of Memorial Mass at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.A private family burial will be held at a later date.The family has requested that no flowers be sent. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church for Masses, BJC Hospice, American Diabetes Association, American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, or to the charity of one’s choice.Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.Online condolences and guest book may be found at www.staten-fine.com
