Reverend Robinson

Bethalto |

Reverend Jeremy B. Robinson, 46, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 26th surrounded by his family. For the past ten years, Reverend Robinson and his wife, Ginger, served as Senior Pastor of the Bethalto Church of God in Bethalto, IL, a community to which they became well-known pastors at large through the church’s ministry efforts in and around the Riverbend area.

Jeremy Brooks Robinson was born on April 24, 1968 in Chattanooga, TN to ministerial parents, Reverend Julian & Jeannie Robinson. He graduated from Cleveland High School in Cleveland, TN (1986) where he also graduated from Lee University (1990) and the Church of God Pentecostal Theological Seminary with a Masters of Divinity in 1993. Jeremy married Ginger Sanders, herself the daughter of ministerial parents Reverend Ray & Kathy Sanders in May 1993. Following their marriage, the Robinsons immediately moved to Florence, KY where they founded the Open Door Community Church of God which they co-pastored for 12 years before moving to Bethalto in February 2005.

Having acknowledged a ministerial calling at a very young age, Pastor Robinson preached his first public message at ten years old. He first became a credentialed minister with the Church of God (Cleveland, TN) at 16 years of age and rose to the rank of Ordained Bishop in 1993. He was a popular speaker for local church revivals, youth camps, conferences, and camp meetings throughout the country and outside the U.S. where he also led mission’s teams to China, Brazil, and Paraguay.

He was elected by his Church of God ministerial colleagues at various times to serve as a member of the Youth & Discipleship Board in Kentucky, and the State Councils of Kentucky and Illinois respectively. Additionally, Reverend Robinson was appointed to other boards and committees including the Pentecostal Theological Seminary Board of Directors, a post which he personally enjoyed and which enabled him the opportunity to be engaged in ministerial training and mentoring to impact the future of his beloved church.

His love for people, integrity, and personal commitment were seen first by his family at home where he coveted time with Ginger, his wife and ministry partner of 21 years, and cultivated deep relationships with their daughters, Madray (16) and Mallory (14). In addition to his wife and daughters, Pastor Robinson is survived by his father, Julian B. Robinson and wife, Peggy (Cleveland, TN); brother, Reverend Jeffrey B. and sister-in-law, Carla Robinson (Indianapolis, IN); Brother & Sister-in-law, Reverend Mark & Delta Schrade (Deland, FL); Brother & Sister-in-law, Aaron & Tonya Barbee (Cumming, GA); 5 nephews: Gabriel & Josiah Schrade, Stone Robinson, and Breckin & Brock Barbee; 2 nieces: Abigail & Lily Robinson. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeannie Robinson (2009).

A celebration memorial service will be held at Bethalto Church of God (800 Bethalto Rd, Bethalto, IL 62010) on Friday, January 30, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. Pastor Robinson’s body will lie in-state from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. A reception will follow immediately after the service. Visitation and a funeral service will take place at the North Cleveland Church of God, 335 11th Street, NE, Cleveland, TN 37311 on Monday & Tuesday, February 2 & 3, 2015.
