Alice Laverne VonBergen, 86, passed away at 8:15 am Friday January 23, 2015 at her residence.
She was born May 22, 1928 in Winchester, KS, the daughter of Archibald and Anne (McCrea) Cory.
In November of 1970 she married Harold VonBergen. He preceded her in death on January 20, 2013.
She loved spending time with her family and her church, Abundant Life Community Church.
Alice is survived by four daughters, Sharon Massalone of East Alton, Marion Allen of Alton, Linda VonBergen of Rosewood Heights, and Dawn Abner of Rosewood Heights; seven sons and their spouses, Lester and Anne Maxeiner of Ellelle, HI, William and Deb Maxeiner of Grotin CT, Earl Maxeiner of Alton, Henry and Regina Maxeiner of Bethalto, James and Rachael VonBergen of Bethalto, Gary VonBergen of Bethalto, and Randy and Cindy VonBergen of Cottage Hills; twenty-six grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three daughters, Clara Ann Criveau, Joan Mae Maxeiner, and Marilyn Johnson; and three brothers, Floyd Cory, John Cory, William Cory.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm Monday January 26, 2015 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, IL.
Funeral service will be at 10 am on Tuesday January 27, 2015 at Abundant Life Community Church in Alton with Pastor Bob Mathes officiating.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park.
Memorials may be directed to Abundant Life Community Church, American Cancer Society, or the American Heart Association.
